Beach Time at Last!

Good evening everyone!

I finally got into the water today! :) Most of the beaches here in Malta are different from the ones I have been to in the States. They are rocky as opposed to sandy, but it was still a lot of fun. I am not going to lie, it has been awhile since I have gone to a beach so I was a little bit scared to get into the water. I overcame my bout of fear and had a blast!

The rocky beaches! There was also a ramp to get into the water, which is also different from the states!

Proof (for my sister and I guess everyone) that I am indeed here in Malta and was at the beach and went into the ocean!

Check out that wave!

Until next time folks :)

Back to Valleta

Good Evening from Malta!

Today, I made my way back to Valleta, and I succeeded in finding the University of Malta Valleta campus with the help of my roommates/classmates! Teamwork rocks! Today, I have some pictures from Valleta and one from this evening at St. Julian's!

I thought this thank you to Malta for their contribution in WWII was fantastic and well deserved.

The entrance to the University of Malta Valleta campus! :) I was so excited and relieved to finally find it! I can't believe this is where I will be going to school over the next 9 months!

Late night parade in St. Julian's. It was pretty cool!

Journey to Valleta :)

Hello lovelies!

Today,I finally made it to Valleta! I did not find what I was supposed to find, but I still had tons of fun! My post will show you a little bit of my journey to Valleta!

This cute ferry took me across the bay from Sliema to Valleta. It was really neat and the ocean breeze sitting on the top floor felt so nice, especially because of the heat. It was also a super fast ferry ride.

After landing in Valleta, a horse-drawn carriage tour was the way to go!!! :) It felt awesome to be in a carriage and made me think of how it must have been like when it was the main form of travel. It also made taking pictures of beautiful sites in Valleta really easy!

The next item on the list is what at first I thought might be a prison and boy was I off! It is a fortress that is currently being renovated, but it is going to be kept as a fortress. I love that they are keeping it as what it was. It is a part of history that they are keeping, which is profound.

This picture is of St. Elmo's fortress! I thought it was stunning. In the bottom right corner, it is a stone covering a hole. The holes used to be where grains were grown, isn't that neat? I love the history that I keep coming across here in Malta.

Last picture for the evening! This bell tower is a memorial for those who died during World War II. Malta played a very important role preventing the capture of the Mediterranean. It rings every day.

That is all I have for you today. I fall more in love with this place everyday from the older architecture to the ocean to the history.

Until next time :)

Lighthouse!

Hello lovely people! :)

So I did not get around to Valleta today, but I did walk around more in St. Julians. I really have just been walking around getting to know the area or at least part of it. Today, I met some of my fellow classmates making this experience seem less surreal! I found supermarkets today! Now I will not just have the option to eat out! Yay! I promise more pictures later, but for now, here is this awesome lighthouse!

End of Day 2

Good Evening from Malta :)

After my second day here, I wanted to share a few pictures with all of you! I am still getting my bearings and figuring things out, but have taken as many pictures as I can. This place has already completely captivated me. I am looking forward to my time here and feel incredibly lucky to be here. I have so many things to show you, but for this post I am going to go with a couple of boats I saw this evening!

Buildings Galore!!!

Hi Folks! :)

Today I wanted to share pictures of buildings. I love the architecture here. I know everyone has different tastes, but I just love older buildings. I love the character and history they have and represent. I also love seeing different styles of buildings than what I am used to. The pictures are from the Sliema and St. Julians areas in Malta. Tomorrow, I plan to trek to the Valleta area!

I thought this spiral staircase was just lovely.

Loved this door

Super colorful

Introduction and Greetings from Malta!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Arianna, and I am a college student studying abroad in Malta, and my older sister convinced me to start a blog for my stay here. I will try to post about my studies, food, the city, and the many adventures I hope to have. I can tell you that even though it has only been my second day here....I am in love. The ocean is absolutely stunning and I absolutely love the architecture here. It is filled with so much history and character and is just stunning. Today, I also had the most delicious crepe ever. Enjoy pictures of the crepe, ocean, and a church!
Until next time! :)
